After a 5 hour flight to California, a 5 hour layover (which included a cancelled flight), and a 3 hour flight to Houston me and Alyssa (a friend also studying abroad in Denmark) finally made it! You might be wondering why we are in Houston, and the reason is that Hawaii doesn't have a Visa center for Denmark!!! So in order to get our Visa (which is needed if you wish to stay in Denmark for over 90 days) we had to travel to another Visa center on the mainland. The center with the earliest appointment was in Houston, Texas (also available in Miami, San Francisco, New York, etc). We were lucky that one of Alyssa's family friends could house us during our short 34 hour trip to Houston! Highly recommend going to Chick-Fil-A while you wait for your flight home in Houston :)
For the remaining time I had left in Hawaii, I spent time doing my favorite Hawaii activities (hiking, swimming, going to the beach), hanging out with friends and family, and interning at Hawaiian Airlines! As an intern I was able to travel for free so I was able to go to Maui, Kauai, Big Island, and California before I left for Copenhagen while still maintaining an income from interning!
As my departure date approached I had to actually start packing (haven't thought about it once this summer) which was very stressful! Definitely recommend starting early lol. Something that I thought was very helpful which I found out from TikTok, was purchasing packing cubes which helps you pack more efficiently. It also allows you to keep organized with each type of clothing you are bringing. I brought three pairs of shoes, many t-shirts/long sleeves, a few hoodies, 4 pairs of pants, and A LOT of socks and underwear.
Finally, it was time for me to board my flight which was a total of 24 hours of traveling! I went from Honolulu -> Los Angeles - Paris -> Copenhagen. The flights weren't too bad and I didn't have any issues at the airport in Europe so it was pretty easy. When I arrived my "buddy" (issued by Copenhagen Business School) was waiting for me at the airport and took me to my dorm and then I met up with Ila and Alyssa who arrived a few days earlier!
